We are pleased to announce that the Subaru Justy alternator mount for SR20DE(T) engine conversions are finally done! This allows you to use a smaller Subaru Justy alternator for cleaner packaging when doing a SR20DE(T) engine swap.
The Subaru Justy alternator is about 2/3 the size of the standard alternator. It has 55amp output, more than enough for and EFI converted roadster. The alternator uses a standard Nissan plug, and the grooved pulley matches the SR20DE(T)'s crank pulley, unlike the Suzuki or Kubota alternator.
These mounts have been carefully designed with Autocad, and laser cut out of mild steel. All tabs have been TIG welded for superior strength.
The alternator has been designed to fit as high and tight to the engine block, to give as much room to the frame as possible. The top bolt has even been countersunk to get the alternator to sit even tighter to the bracket.
The alternator was moved forward on the block to run off of the center groove on the crank pulley to allow for more room on the roadster frame. This required the use of a Z31 300ZX turbo water pump pulley, and a custom machined aluminum water pump spacer to be built. This kit comes with the both the pulley, spacer, and the associated hardware to bolt it all together.
A considerable amount of time has been put into these brackets to get them 100% right. Scratch building this bracket on earlier conversions has been one of our least favorite parts of the conversion, and now we finally have a bracket that is a bolt-on!
Price for the complete bolt-on kit is $200, all you need to do is add the alternator. If you decide that you just want the bracket, the price is $150.
Note: You will need to cut a minor notch in the passenger side frame rail (we will supply photos and dimensions) for alternator clearance on your frame and you may need to modify your lower water neck to suit your radiator application. We can send you detailed photographs of both of these issues. |
